New Connection Configuration

The Opens the Connection Configuration wizard Connection Configuration wizard helps you configure connections to servers. You can open this wizard by selecting File > New > Other... > Atelier > Server Connection from the main menu. Note that Atelier does not support connections to servers running on VMS.

Option Description
Connection Name Enter a name to identify the new connection. The connection name cannot contain spaces.
Web Server Configuration
Enter the address of the host where the server for this connection is running. The default value is localhost. This field supports IPV4 and IPV6 IP addresses in addition to server names.
Web Port
Enter the WebServer port number used by the server. The default value is 57772.
Secure Connection
Select this check box to use Transport Layer Security (TLS) for this connection. The default value is unselected.
A valid user ID for the instance specified in the Web Server Configuration section.
A valid password for the specified user.

Credentials are required to prevent using an excessive number of licenses. Atelier makes many requests on the REST Api it uses to communicate with the server. If these requests are from an unauthenticated user, then each one takes out a separate license unit. If the requests instead come from a password authenticated user, then they share one license unit with many connections. The user must have the required minimum privileges. See Minimum Required Privileges.

Test Connection Click this button to test the connection. You see either "Connection succeeded." or an error message.

If you see an error message that says: Prohibited authentication method "Unauthenticated" detected. it indicates that you are using the unsuppported authentication mode Unauthenticated. See Prohibited Authentication.

In order to use a secure connection, both the web server and the CSP Gateway must be configured for SSL/TLS. See Using SSL/TLS with Caché or Using SSL/TLS with InterSystems IRIS. You should also configure any external web servers for SSL/TLS support. Eclipse supports TLS in a standard way by leveraging the JVM truststore.

Use the Server Explorer view examine connections you have created.

If the server is running in Locked Down security mode, and you get the error: Not Found. Check the web server configurations, the problem may be that the /api/atelier Web application is not enabled. See Connection Failure with Locked Down Server.

Problems that arise when you create a connection can indicate problems with secure storage. See Connections and Secure Storage on Mac Platforms.
