Configuring Caché

Before importing a multivalue application into Caché or using the Caché multivalue features, verify that long string support is enabled in Caché. Note that it is enabled by default. You can do this through the Management Portal. Here are the steps:

  1. In the Management Portal, navigate to the Memory and Startup. Click System Administration–>Configuration–>System Configuration–>Memory and Startup.

  2. If necessary, click Enable Long Strings and then click Save.

Note:

For more information on the Management Portal, read Using the Management Portal section of the Caché System Administration Guide.

With long strings enabled, the maximum length of local and global strings in Caché is approximately 3.6 million characters. For more information, see Support for Long String Operations in the Server Configuration section of the Caché Programming Orientation Guide.
